Our Accommodation
The owners have paid great attention to detail to ensure guests' comfort and enjoyment, from the heating and lighting to the quality of the furnishings, with LCD televisions, music system, DVD players and an open fire in the lounge. The station can accommodate up to 6 people, with parking just outside the building, and just a few minutes from the centre of the village.
As the accommodation is all at ground floor level it is suitable for wheelchair users.
We have recently added a "sitooterie" with a BBQ which enjoys the sun most of the day and evening.
'The Old Ticket Office' is now the lounge with the original pitch pine cladding on the walls, wooden floor and ceiling and original Victorian fire-place-a basket of logs and coal is provided. The ticket hatch has been preserved as it was, and the lounge is equipped with LCD television with Freesat and DVD player. The comfy sofa converts to a double bed together with tub chair, armchair, bean bags and footstool. Complementary warm coloured furnishings help create a calming and serene lounge in the colder months, and lighter colours in the summer provide an airier feel to this famous old room.
'The Ladies Waiting Room' is now a bedroom with a quality king-size bed with bed-side tables, LCD television and DVD, comfortable chairs and fully fitted carpet. The former 'Gentlemans Toilet' has been converted into a spacious luxury en-suite wet room with its own sauna and cold drench shower (as well as a thermostatically controlled hot one), and under-floor heating.
'The Ladies Toilet' has been converted into a utility room with washing machine and tumble-dryer. A pulley system is available for drying coats and jackets as it does occasionally rain in Plockton! The freezer is located in here and with the tiled floor the room is suitable for the storage of bicycles, boots and your outdoor gear!
'The Gentlemens Waiting Room' is now the open-plan country kitchen and dining room. The pitch pine cladding has been retained along with the original wooden floor and ceiling, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere, reminiscent of the old days when passengers waited patiently for the train to arrive. There is a large island unit with breakfast bar, induction hob, with island cooker hood, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The original Victorian open-hearth fire will once again bring a warm glow to this old room, and a dining table and chairs make this a perfect place to unwind after a great day out! In the alcove the shelves are lined with books and magazines, with radio and CD player, and even an Ipod docking station for those who like their gadgets!
'The Station Masters Office' is now a bedroom, and to ensure comfort and warmth, a carpet has been fitted. The pine cladding has been retained on the walls and ceiling, barely changing this former bustling office, since it was built when Queen Victoria was on the throne. An original architectural feature has been utilised as a bed head for either a king-size or twin beds ( zip and link ), and a sumptous mattress topper has been provided for the king-size bed. There is also a single sofa bed in this room. The bedroom has a LCD television with Freesat, DVD player, hairdryer. The Masters fireplace has been retained as a symbol of those great days of the past!
